Three ancient walls discovered during excavations in Sofia
Three ancient walls dating back to the 2nd – 4th century were discovered during the repair of the Sofia’ s landmark Lion’s Bridge (Lavov Most in Bulgarian) on Thursday. One of these ancient walls were found while the second line of the Sofia Metro was being constructed.
When discovering the walls, experts are sure that these were Roman walls which were part of a constructed facility that was intended to place a bridge over the Perlovska River.
It is possible that four more pieces are about to be registered which are remains of walls, some of which stand under the river banks or even in the river, local media inform.
