German-based hotel chain Worldhotels has reported it is in franchise talks with several hotels in Bulgaria.
The company is interested in the whole Central and Eastern European region where demand is on the rise, told Robert van der Graaf, senior manager business development EMEA.
The executive told Worldhotels is currently looking at Sofia and is exploring opportunities to brand existing hotels as well as hotels still under building.
The first Worldhotels throw in Bulgaria should be expected by the end of 2008, told van der Graaf, withholding the names of the targeted hotels. The company is interested in local hotels with three to five stars and at least 50 rooms.
Worldhotelsdirects a portfolio of more than 500 hotels and resorts in more than 300 destinations and 70 countries worldwide.
Some of the major international hotel operators doing business in Sofia embrace Sheraton, Radisson, Kempinski, Hilton, Holiday Inn and Best Western.
