The number of the foreign visitors is by 2.4 % higher compared to March 2013. The visits related to holidays and trips have jumped up to 4.4 % within the same period last year. The number of the foreigners who visited Bulgaria in March 2014 is 361 100. The share of the citizens of the EU is 46.6% as compared to the same month last year, it increases by 3.5%. Other registered foreigners that visited our country come from: Italy (16.7 %), Hungary (9.4%), the UK (9 %), Austria (8.3%), Romania (8.3%) and Germany (6.5 %). The visits from Greece and Poland mark a decrease by 7.2% and 4.3% respectively. Tourists from Macedonia and Serbia also account on an increase by 6% and 5.4% respectively. In March 2014, the percent share of the visits related to holidays and trips is 43.3% followed further by other aims such as stay or transit trips (39.3%) and business trips (17.4%).
In March 2014 more and more Bulgarian citizens travel abroad. Their number has reached up to 313 400 which is by 1.5% more than the same period last year. Bulgarian people have travelled to Macedonia (16.1%), Turkey (11.5%), Greece (1.1%). A small part of them travels to Russia (27.9%), the Czech Republic (16.1%), France (8.7%), the UK (8.4%), Austria (7.7%), Romania (7.4%), Serbia (6.9%) and Germany (4.8 %).
Most of the Bulgarians travelled abroad in order to stay, study, visit cultural and sport events in March 2014. Their share is 44.5 % and 29 % of them travelled abroad for a holiday. The tourist trips have increased by 86.5 % in March 2013 while the business trips have decreased down by 20.4% and 2%. Within this period most of the Bulgarians travelled to Serbia.
